How to make a delicious Masala Chicken Burger (secret ingredient is our mango chutney :))

Let us spice our chicken burgers! In this recipe, you will see how to make an excellent delicious masala chicken burger. Now some of you may wonder, what is 'masala'? Masala is a spice blend, as well as a loose term used for the curry sauce.

In this recipe, we will add just one ingredient to make this burger spicy, and that ingredient is Tandoori Masala (store-bought, obviously, and Whole Foods sells it, and so does Trader Joes, and there is always Amazon); and if you cannot find this spice blend, then feel free to use curry powder instead. By the way, Spice and Tea Exchange is a great supplier of delicious quality spices and spice blends, and their Tandoori Spice blend is the best I've ever tasted.

We are using our brand of Mango Chutney in this recipe. It is made with a ton of mangoes (one bottle contains almost half a lb of mangoes that are peeled, cored, chopped, and cooked for 4 plus hours). This will make our burger extra-special.

Serves: makes 8 burgers

Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1/2 cup white onion, roughly chopped

1 Tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped

1 teaspoon sea salt

2 Tablespoons ground Tandoori Masala OR curry powder

1/2 cup chopped cilantro

8 burgers, preferably Martin's brand

4 Tablespoons Rupen's Mango Chutney

8 slices of either provolone/Swiss/cheddar cheese

2 beefsteak tomato, sliced in 1 cm slices

4 pieces of fresh Romaine lettuce

1 cup breadcrumbs (1/4 cup for patty filling and 3/4 cup for coating the patty)

1/2 cup vegetable oil, to shallow-fry

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, add chicken, onion, ginger, salt, Tandoori Masala, and cilantro. Mix well to combine.

Form 8 patties and set aside.

Heat a non-stick frypan over medium heat. Pour vegetable oil and let it heat.

Meanwhile, dip the patties in breadcrumbs and coat each patty with bread crumbs.

Two at a time, fry the patties until light golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side. Make sure the chicken is cooked.

Place the patties on absorbent towels to absorb excess moisture.

Once the patties are done, place the burgers on the frying pan (2 at a time) and toast them gently. Set aside.

And now, it is time to prepare the burgers.

Apply mango chutney on the top of each of the buns.

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom of each of the buns.

Place a tomato slice on top of the lettuce and a slice of cheese on the tomato.

Now, place the chicken patty (one on each cheese slice) and cover with the top part of the bun.
